2021 didn't stop us!

A message from Michelle, the founder and director of Skate Love Barcelona. Delayed with respect to the post on social media, but here it is...

"9 years since @esinamsterdam saw what I was building in Barcelona with @bcnrollerdance and joined us inviting skaters for days of fun! I made a poster and named it "United in Barcelona". We had great photos from Stasiu, Kiko and Juan and the buzz started: 2012 (13 skaters), 2013 (100), 2014 (400)... We need a festival‼️

5 editions since I created @skatelovebcn in 2015. Brand creation excites me as a Visual Designer and after my experience in the entertainment world as a dancer, singer and ad model, being social, outgoing and community driven, I was ready to make dreams come true in a festival of fun, music, dancing and roller skating for those who enjoy the same as me!✨

I never imagined the sacrifice, criticism and rejection that I was about to face. I'm still learning to face them properly but for the most part, it has been a priceless growth that makes me a stronger human and a better professional.

This year has been complicated due to the #fuckingcovid but also an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT CHALLENGE as some apparently wanted us to cancel our festival. But WE MADE IT thanks to our producer Maria @eventsandmore who was fighting to the death with me! And our amazing team of coordinators who were investing time and energy for almost a year, alongside their jobs, to make this festival happen. The festival force behind this! 💪🏼😍

Our main motivation were the 500 risk takers who joined us, the adventurers, the fuck-it-i'll-be-there humans! We made it motivated by you all! Also thanks to our sponsor @chaya_skates and the brands @riedellroller, @montanacolors_spain and those who participated in the market: @rollergirlgang, @morgatta, @americansocks and @weareskaterbooty. Supported by the City Council of Badalona ❤️

There's so much behind the scenes that you will NEVER know and so many things that I'd love to say, but now I just keep the flavour of SUCCESS after Skate Love 2021! 🌧️🌞🎵✨ I was finally able to enjoy myself as the Party Queen! 👸🏽🥰🌟 Thanks to my hubby, who jumped in to help enormously ❤️
